Residential Services

Hope Valley, Inc. Residential Services program, located in Hickory, NC, is a long-term residential program for men (age 25 or older) with substance abuse problems. We are licensed by the NC Department of Health and Human Services and can have up to 14 residents in the program. The program is staffed by a certified substance abuse counselor and well-trained residential staff. At least one staff member is on duty at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions:


 Applicants should be male, over age 25, able (and willing) to maintain full time employment, have substance abuse problems, be alcohol and/or drug-free at least 7 days prior to admission, agree to participate in all scheduled activities (including 12-step program), and agree to adhere to all program rules and regulations.


Hope Valley, Inc. provides assistance in securing employment, meals, transportation to work and AA/NA meetings, laundry services, and some medical services. Any other needs a resident might have (court appearances, etc.) will be addressed on an individual basis.


Residents may have on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM during the first 30 days. After 60 days in the program, clients may request “over night” passes.

Smoking:Smoking is allowed in designated areas outside the buildings. No smoking is
allowed in automobiles or inside buildings.


Clients may have cell phones for personal calls.


Residents may send or receive mail at our post office box (PO Box 2682 Hickory, NC 28602).

Each bedroom has 2 twin beds, 2 night stands, 2 wardrobes, and seating


Laundry services are provided by the facility. Residential staff does laundry for each resident twice each week. A schedule for laundry services is provided to the resident upon admission.


All medications, including over-the-counter medications and supplements, must be approved by the Hope Valley physician. All medications are administer by staff.


Residents should bring enough clothing for 5-7 days, personal grooming items, and current medications. We do provide pillows, but residents may prefer to bring their own.

What NOT to Bring:

Residents should NOT bring electronic devices, expensive items (Jewelry, Ipad, etc.). Residents should not bring a large amount of money above the cost of treatment. Hope Valley, Inc. is not responsible for loss of personal Items
